WHAT KIND OF SCHOOL?
Drama tuition in Sydney tends to be offered by talent schools or schools offering drama activities. Bardic Drama School operates differently to both these approaches. The information below is to help families decide what will work best for them.
TALENT SCHOOLS
- Program is product driven.
- Program includes acting, dancing & singing.
- Work is devised (choreographed) by teachers or is from existing sources.
- A high level of commitment is required from practice through to costumes.
- Some talent schools deliver a recognised syllabus such as the RAD syllabus.
- Every student takes part in a performance.
SCHOOLS OFFERING DRAMA ACTIVITIES
- Program is activity driven.
- Program focuses on acting with improvisation and drama games comprising the bulk of the activities.
- Classes are relaxed and fun with no practice required.
- Participation in a public performance isn’t always included.
- The teacher usually follows a course outline.
BARDIC DRAMA SCHOOL
- Program is process driven.
- Program includes acting, public speaking, communication, theatre & film and history, voice and movement and creative writing as core modules.
- Students negotiate the amount of practice they do according to the time they have available for drama and their level of interest.
- Every student performs in a play and film they devise each year.
- Our curriculum and syllabus is our own and is mapped to the NSW Board of Studies English and Drama syllabus.
