LEVEL OF COMMITMENT
Students choose a House when they enrol in the School. Each House has a different level of commitment and different privileges. Our House system enables students, in consultation with their families, to choose the level of commitment that works best for them. We are always happy to negotiate our program with students to accommodate their own particular areas of interest.
- YELLOW HOUSE: for our new students and those who are busy with many activities.
- Commitment: 2 practices a week and learning lines on time.
- Privileges: smaller parts in plays and films.
- BLUE HOUSE: for students who are more experienced with practice for after-school activities.
- Commitment: 3 practices a week and learning lines on time.
- Privileges: middle sized parts in plays and films.
- RED HOUSE: for experienced students who have strong time management skills.
- Commitment: 3 practices a week, exploration of other key creative roles in plays and films and learning lines on time.
- Privileges: large parts in plays and films and the opportunity to production manage, design costume, set, sound or makeup, operate camera, compose or select music or any other creative area of interest.
- GREEN HOUSE: for students for whom drama is a priority.
- Commitment: 3 practices a week, exploration of other key creative roles, extension work and learning lines on time.
- Privileges: leading parts in plays and films and the opportunity to production manage; design costume, set, sound or makeup; operate the camera; compose or select music or any other creative area of interest; and extension work including monologues; creative writing for performance; individually tailored voice program or any other creative area of interest.
PROGRESSION THROUGH HOUSES
Students who keep their commitment over two terms are invited to progress to the next house. Students may accept or choose to stay in their existing house. Students who are not able to keep their commitment over two terms will be asked to select a house with a lesser commitment for two terms. In addition students can elect to move into a house with a lesser commitment if they have a busy period coming up. Students can change Houses at the beginning of term 1 and term 3.
